The work Abe has guided me through over the last several years is nothing short of amazing. I never thought I would get to such a place of peace and I owe a lot of it to his steady, holistic approach to wellness that turned me from a very anxious, unhappy person to someone who truly enjoys life. If you are a creative person who wants to feel inspired again or just want to let go of past hurt, I can't recommend Abe enough.

Abe's approach to therapy is just revolutionary. In addition to verbal discourse, in which unlike more traditional therapy he talks as much as you do, Abe combines breath work (almost yoga like), with physical scenarios including role playing and pillow hitting. Instead of just sitting back and listening Abe really engages with you; I had answers to long term questions on my first visit. Highly recommended.

I've done 4 years of therapy with Abe.  It's changed my life, and saved it.  The superlatives sound too extreme perhaps, but I'm honestly just writing what feels true.  I think he's exceptional at understanding the dynamics of emotional well being, and of the baggage we carry.  He's independent minded, and very intelligent.  His techniques at getting in touch with that pain, and in the process, learning how to feel, and then how to carry and guide us through our always-challenging days, are really effective.  I don't think much of a lot of therapists or approaches to therapy - I think they're often more afraid of truly dealing with emotional issues than they ever let on - but I think Abe has his finger on the pulse of emotional baggage in a deeper and more effective way than anyone I've heard of.  Great at detecting your own pace and way of going through the therapeutic process - he's never going to force you in a direction or speed that doesn't fit you and what you're ready for at that moment.  Remarkably sweet and conscientious guy, too.

I've spent ten years immersed in therapeutic practices including Buddhist meditation techniques and intensive talk therapy. As I like to tell people, seeing Abe Wald has been by far the most effective thing I've ever done to improve my mental health. Abe is an absolute life saver. As Abe says, his work is "more than just talk" -- we connect bodily experiences and mental insight through awareness practices, hitting pillows, talking to different parts of myself in chairs placed around the room, even the hokey pokey once -- and these techniques allow me to really internalize new ways of being and to act on them when I'm out in the world. Abe gives me a set of tools I can actually use myself at any time; he stresses being able to help yourself instead of being reliant on him. Since seeing Abe for a few years, I've become much more stable mentally, happy with life, and even more physically active since he has helped me connect to the inner wisdom of my body and not be afraid of it. Instead of being stuck in negative thoughts, he has taught me how not to believe and fight back against my destructive thought patterns and he has helped me cultivate an inner coach who encourages me all the time. I'm honestly amazed at how much my life has improved since I started seeing him. I don't think there are better therapists in New York City than Abe Wald -- you can count on it.
